GCE O Level and ITC Grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, U

GCE A/O Level 2021 Results Released

The Ordinary level has 3(three) pass grades gotten after the imprints for papers 1 and 2 have been joined together. They are; A, B, and C. The absolute imprint is consistently on 100 (paper 1, 40% and paper 2, 60 %). The imprints for the various grades are seen beneath:

A grade = 75-100

B grade = 65-75

C grade = 50-65

The failed grades for the O Level are D, E, and U. Whenever the scores are by and large extremely poor for a specific subject, Chief Examiners after a genuine consideration might choose to go as low as accepting 45 focuses as a pass under C grade yet will anyway apply just for that specific subject. Note ought to be taken that it will apply just for that specific assessment meeting. In this way it doesn’t ensure that 45 % will be taken as a C grade pass in resulting years.

GCE A/O Level 2021 Results Released

Grades likewise have point values as follows; A = 3 points, B = 2 points and C = 1 point. Since not beyond what 11 papers can be enrolled in the GCE Ordinary Level, the most elevated number of points a candidate can score is 33 (if the competitor scored A grades in every one of the subjects the person enlisted). There are generally prizes given to such successful individuals from the Ministry and even from their different schools.

•             GCE A Level and ATC Grading scale: A, B, C, D, E, O, or F

Letter grades A, B, C, D, and E address a passing grade, with the A grade being the most elevated and the E grade being the least. A F (fall flat) is certifiably not a passing grade and isn’t expressed on the GCE Certificate.

The Advanced level dissimilar to the Ordinary level has 5 (five) passed grades; A, B, C, D, and E. This is done after the imprints for Paper 1, 2, and 3 have been joined. It shows how the two assessments change. Imprints for the A level are likewise reviewed on a 100. The score range for the grades are seen underneath;

A grade = 75-100

B grade = 70-75

C grade = 65-70

D grade = 60-65

E grade = 50-60

There is likewise a free grade O to remunerate applicants who nearly scored a half for that specific subject (45-49%). This is to show that the individual nearly had it and the effect involves not many points. Yet, the compensatory grade O is as yet a failed grade. Aside from O, there is F which is additionally a woeful fail grade at the GCE Advanced Level. Actually like what occurs at the Ordinary levels, the final score for the last passing grade can be changed if the overall score that year for that specific subject are extremely poor. Rather than 50 on 100, the Chief inspectors for that subject after consultation might choose to endorse 45 marks as an E grade pass. The score recorded for compensatory will be at 40 in such a circumstance.

GCE A/O Level Examination Levels and Eligibility

GCE is an abbreviation for General Certificate Examination. This assessment has national and international acknowledgment and can be utilized for passage into any college around the globe. This national examination is administered by the Cameroon GCE Board.

GCE tests as a rule occur for a period of about one month (practical inclusive) between May and June every year in Cameroon. This was however not the case with the 2021 session which ran into the month of July owing to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Cameroon, the General Certificate Examinations are taken by two candidates at two distinct levels of education.

The base level which is the Ordinary Level is intended for all candidates who have acquired knowledge from the education curriculum of the first five years of studies. The second level which is the Advanced Level is intended to examine students or candidates who have undergone studies for the last two years of the secondary cycle. Most of the candidates who sit in for the GCE at both levels are registered students at regular school establishments. However, students can study by themselves or follow accelerated classes at specialized schools in order to sit in for the examinations. In either case, all candidates are expected to choose a center under which to register for the exams. These centers are in charge of providing candidates with their examination timetables, results slip and eventually certificates.

Outline of Cameroon GCE Board, Examinations and Results

The Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board known as Cameroon GCE Board is the public organ liable for setting assessments, checking them, and circulating results for Anglo-Saxon Cameroonian secondary school understudies. This occurs at two phases; Stage 1: The GCE Ordinary Level (“O Level”), a subject-based capability component of the General Certificate of Education, for understudies having finished a 5-year optional instruction program. Stage 2: The GCE Advanced Level (“A Level”), another subject-based capability presented as a feature of the General Certificate of Education, obligatory for validation of the final year in secondary school.

What now after the GCE A/O Level Results 2021?

For all those who have been through secondary school education, there’s always a breeze of freedom after every exam. The breeze goes further immediately it is realized that the exam was successful. At lower and non-examination classes (Form 1 – 4 and Lower sixth), the main aim of writing an exam is simply to be promoted to the next level. This is not the case for Upper Sixth and Form Five students sitting in for the GCE Advanced and Ordinary Level respectively.

In most Anglophone secondary schools, a distinction is made between students of the first cycle and those of the second cycle. We can illustrate this using as an example a school like PCHS Mankon (Progressive Comprehensive High School) which is a well-known center of knowledge in the North West Region of Cameroon. In this establishment, all students in the first cycle have as school uniform a black skirt or pair of trousers alongside a white short sleeves shirt. Form five students are easily identified by the black band fixed on the pocket (one pocket on the left side only) of their shirt. With this band, the final students of the first cycle are easily known, and as such, no one expects to see them with the same black band the next academic year. Students of the second cycle on the other hand put on a coffee brown skirt or pair of trousers with a sky blue shirt. As in the first cycle, a distinction is made to ease recognition of the final year students. In place of a black band, all Upper Sixth students have a coffee brown band in their pocket.

Gce Results 2021 – Cameroon

With these uniform differences, Form Five students are generally eager to succeed in their exams and get a different pair of uniforms in the same school. In addition, there is an old tradition in Anglophone secondary schools whereby second-cycle students are being referred to as ‘Seniors’ by those of the first cycle. It can thus be retained that a successful outcome after the publication of the GCE results can bring take students to a higher rank of respect on the campus.

Moving from the first to the second cycle equally involves a considerable drop in the number of subjects to be offered; from a minimum of 6 to a minimum of 3. The maximum number of subjects equally goes down from 11 to 6. This implies fewer teachers, fewer books to carry around, and the possibility to choose what subjects to register for.  In addition to these, success in the GCE O level is a step closer to the University which is what Advanced Level students have in mind.

In Upper Sixth, most students think of two things; their end-of-year exam and their life afterward. The GCE result for a student at the Advanced Level is a pass ticket into a different milieu, one where individual responsibility is most important. Once the pass grades are obtained in at least 2 papers, aside from religious knowledge, students automatically gain the status of undergraduate students. In Cameroon, 8 state Universities and over 300 professional institutions offer higher education to holders of a GCE A Level certificate. In this new environment, students have 100% liberty and are responsible for their life and the knowledge they can get. No more school uniforms, no more teachers running after students daily, less parental control, and very often, independence in residence.  This is accompanied by a more specific educational curriculum, fewer school hours, and the liberty to decide when to go to school. No more use of terms such as subject, teachers, and classrooms, which are replaced by courses, lecturers, and amphitheaters respectively.

GCE Results 2021 a New Beginning

The GCE like every other examination or test of knowledge has a purpose of existence. At the Ordinary level, it is the gateway into the last two years of secondary education under the Anglo-Saxon system of education in Cameroon. This change of educational level equally applies to the Advanced level though the implications are more impressive. Succeeding in the final exams of the second cycle is generally viewed as the first step into a new age for undergraduate aspiring students. Once the results are published, candidates generally have a maximum of 2 months to enroll into institutions of higher learning. In Cameroon, a huge variety of such institutions exist that offer higher education after the secondary school. These range from State and private universities, state and private professional institutions. While most of these institutions of higher learning offer internationally recognized certificates, a few are still lagging out in the domain. We will review a few Universities and institutions to go for after the GCE A/O Level Results Released.
