The GCE results of each session are generally available in August, so this will be the case for the GCE results 2022. The exam which is being written annually marks the end of the first cycle for ordinary level candidates and the second cycle for advanced level candidates. From the ten regions of the country, about 200 thousand students register for the examinations to move to the next academic level. The main subjects written during each session are classified either as GCE general and GCE technical. The latter is mainly for students under the industrial section while the former covers sciences, arts, and commercial studies.

In Cameroon, the General Certificate of Education abbreviated GCE is the certificate that guides the academic goals of students in secondary and high school. The certificate is made up of two categories; a first category called the Ordinary level and the second, the Advanced level. At the beginning of the academic year, the GCE 2022 session of the examination was scheduled to begin in June 2022. This exam that generally runs for about a month comprises a first part which is practical and a second which is written. The 2022 session will begin on the 11th of June with practical examinations which will be ended on the 18th of the same month. After a couple of days, the written part shall equally begin throughout the national territory and shall end on the 9th of July 2022.

GCE registration process

Candidates are compelled to read all instructions regarding exam eligibility and procedures. Registration is the first step for all those who expect to have their names on the list of candidates when the GCE results 2022 are published.

The registration process usually begins in November and closes in December. However, an extension known as late registration is usually granted in January for candidates who come in late. Exceptionally this year, the entire registration process ran up to February due to some socio-economic factors.

Financial conditions for the GCE examination

The candidate pays a fixed registration fee for the level and type of the examination: GCE O and GCE A Levels. Candidates registering for the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level pay a registration fee of 8000 FCFA. On the other hand, candidates registering for the GCE Advanced Level pay 9000 Francs CFA.

The fee for each subject on the GCE exams varies depending on the level of the exam. GCE Advanced Level candidates pay 2000 FCFA per subject while those at the ordinary level pay 1000 FCFA. 

The fee for practical examination on its part is charged at the same rate for both examination levels. This fee applies only to candidates who offer subjects like food and nutrition, physics and chemistry which have a practical section. As such, all candidates sitting for such subjects must pay a practical examination fee of 5,000 FCFA per subject.

Academic conditions for the GCE examination

Candidates for Ordinary Level examinations must offer at least six subjects which must include English, French, and mathematics. However, if you already have a pass in at least four Ordinary Level subjects or equivalent qualifications, you may enter for additional single subjects. If you want to take Religious Studies as one of your eleven subjects at the Ordinary Level, you may only choose eleven of them. Candidates must enter for compulsory subjects unless they can provide proof that they already have a pass in the subjects. Copies of your results slips and certificates must be attached when you register for the course.

Candidates for advanced-level exams can enter up to 5 subjects Applicants who have obtained a General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level with a grade of at least 4 in at least four subjects. If you have a General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level with grades in at least four subjects, you may be eligible to apply to the University of London. Holders of a Teacher Grade II Certificate or R.S.A stage II certificate in at least four subjects are equally eligible for the GCE Advanced Level examination. Aside from the above-mentioned certificates, holders of any certificates considered equivalent by the GCE board can likewise register and sit in for the examination.

Marking and publication of GCE results

After the examination period, behind the scene work will commence at the various marking centers. During the set period, qualified markers and experts in each subject shall assemble to mark and grade candidate scripts. The process generally lasts about 10 days during which deliberations are equally made following obtained results. The GCE results 2022 results will then be published a few weeks after the end of the examination writing session.

The Cameroon General Certificate of Education (GCE) Board is the official body in charge of organizing end-of-year examinations for candidates writing the GCE O and A Levels. The Main Office is located in BueaSouthwest Region (Cameroon), and the Current Registrar Dang Akuh Dominic. The Cameroon GCE board was established in 1993 as a public examination body supervised by Cameroon ministry of secondary education in Yaoundé.
